Welcome to the Avon Ski Club website.
Skiing is an exhilarating and skilful competitive sport, but also provides plenty of opportunity for off-piste social fun – our Club aims to promote both of these for the enjoyment of Club members and their families and also provides useful discounts for members.
We are primarily a ski club for children and young adults, and provide structured training from qualified instructors to develop overall skiing technique and competitive ski racing. The Club is affiliated with Snowsport England and welcomes all levels of skiers from those who’ve just mastered the snowplough up to National competition level. Our race team regularly competes in the Summer race league and several skiers compete as individuals in the Club Nationals.
Competition between skiers is strong, but so is the mutual support and friendship.
The Club is based at the Avon Ski & Action Centre near Churchill in North Somerset, where skiers are well catered for with a 165m dry ski slope and non-skiers can enjoy watching from the Alpine Chalet style bar area, where drinks and light snacks are available.
The Club meets for training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:15 and 6:00 respectively for about an hour and a half, but many members get together at other times for recreational skiing and social events. Different skiers attend the training sessions, with Tuesday evenings being for the older and more experienced skiers.
If you, or your child, is interested in joining the Club, why not pop along to a training session to determine which of the evenings is most appropriate to your level of skill and experience. If you decide to join please complete and return the new Member application form, which will be considered at the following committee meeting.
